Gig review: B-traits at Komedia, Bath

0

Small and entirely unimposing, Brianna ‘B.Traits’ Price doesn’t exactly appear as a force to be reckoned with. So you’d be forgiven for not recognising her immense talent right off the bat – but B.Traits is proof that great things come in small packages.

On Friday 13th November, I was given the pleasure of seeing B.Traits, current Radio 1 DJ and all round cool lady, for the second time. The last time I saw a B.Traits set was at Moles in my second year and both times seeing her have been quite different. This time I saw B.Traits at Komedia, and her set was pure EDM from the time she walked onstage at 12:30 to when she wound down just before 2am. Her Moles set was much more of a house/garage mesh and both were a complete blast.

If EDM isn’t your thing, then Friday wouldn’t have been huge fun for you. But luckily EDM is VERY much my thing and pure, non-stop EDM is best of all. So B.Traits delivered exactly what I wanted out of her set, which was a steady pulse of beats for the entire hour and a half she was on. Being surrounded by drunk people when I wasn’t one of them wasn’t the greatest part of the evening, but I think it shows how much fun a B.Traits set is that I didn’t even mind one bit. Both friends I went with agreed with me completely that she was amazing and I’d more than happily see her ten more times.

Be sure to check out B.Traits’ soundcloud and try and catch her show on Radio 1. Although it is at 1 am on a Sunday morning, I promise you, it’s worth it. Plus, she has a very soothing voice.
