On Wednesday the 13th of April, varsity against Cardiff Met takes place at the Sports Training Village. The blue and gold will take on the visitors in rugby, netball, football and hockey so make sure you get down to the STV to cheer on the Bathletes.

Women’s football will begin proceedings with a midday kick-off on the in-field pitch. Also at midday is the Women’s rugby on rugby field 1. Both of these women’s teams have shown an excellent level of dedication and determination on the field this year. With your support at varsity, this drive to compete will only improve, providing an unmissable performance. What better way to start Varsity 2016?

Following the Women’s game on the in-field, the spectacle that is Bath Men’s Football will take to the field at 14:00. With Cardiff Met 3rd in Premier-South and Bath in 4th, our men are bound to want to prove themselves against their league rivals. This year’s games against Cardiff Met have been extremely close. 1-1 and 0-0, meaning neither game has been settled with a victor. Both teams are obviously going to want to change this, and earn the victory for this year. So you can expect this match-up to be hotly contested and closely fought.

Next you’ll find the Men’s rugby, where the tables are turned to that of the football. Our Men’s  team managed to finish 3rd in Premier South this year, while Cardiff Met finished in 4th. The Bath boys also managed to get the upper hand in the games, while one game was a low-scoring 3-3 draw, the following game finished 22-15 in Bath’s favour. It’s likely that this win will give Bath the confidence they need to succeed at varsity.

Once the rugby and the football have come to an end, the Men’s and Women’s hockey matches get underway at the Scitech pitches at the Sports Training Village. Both of the Bath teams on show have finished 2nd in their respective leagues so they will want to show you why they are such highly valued and respected teams. This is definitely not one to miss as some excellent hockey will be on display and the Scitech pitches are sure to provide a fantastic atmosphere where you can support your Bathletes.

Once the hockey wraps up at around 19:30, the netball gets underway in thr STV sports hall – most likely this will be a welcomed change having stood all day outside in the cold! The netball is shaping up to be an epic match as Bath and Cardiff Met are league rivals of the Premier South division. Cardiff Met finished the league 20 points ahead of Bath in 3rd position. Bath, however, will be hoping that being on home turf and with strong support, they’ll be able to come away with a win against their league rivals. Netball, then, seems to be a perfect way to bring varsity at Bath to a close.

So on April 13th, be sure that you don’t miss out on the #BlueAndGold fun, and show your support for our Bathletes!
